Picked up an old Mustang. Can Car ID tell me where it was made: engine etc.. Answer: No. All they do is sell parts. You need to use a Mustang VIN and data plate decoder. Depending on the year, the Vehicle identification number will tell you, the year of the car, the assembly factory,body style, engine code and consecutive unit number. More information is included on your door's vehicle data plate, including, the Body type, Color, Trim, Date, DSO, Axle and Transmission
