Buy a 2010 or 2011 Mustang ?

Question:

What would be a better purchase for a young adult?

1. a 2011 V6 Coupe
with the basics but new engine and new features in the 2011

OR:

2. a 2010 V6 Coupe Premium

With the rebates the price of the 2010 Mustang is about $2,000 less then the 2011.

Just trying to decide what might be a better investment, more fun to drive, better resale value and durable?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Answer:

In my opinion, I'd have to say go with the new 2011 Ford Mustang V6 for several reasons.

The 2011 pony car has the new 305 horsepower V6, which is going to give all the exhilaration of the 2005 to 2010 Mustang V8 with phenomenal gas mileage.

It's not just better than the previous V8, it's dramatically better than the 2010 V6 in both performance and mileage. In fact, it's the class leader for mileage.

This, I believe will be a much more desirable car over time, appealing to both genders (no more secretary's car label) and will save you some serious cash from what you save on fuel. I'd also be inclined to believe it will have a better resale value.

I really wouldn't be surprised to see that the difference in your loan or lease payment, depending on how many miles you drive, could even be offset by the better fuel economy.

Don't get me wrong, the 210 horsepower V6 isn't anemic ( I have one in my convertible), but driven one after the other, there's no doubt which one is the performance engine.

While the 2010 deluxe package is very nice, the 2011 Mustang standard is, in my opinion, a cut above it's competitors and a huge improvement in fit and finish over most recent new Mustang models.

Hope this helps.
